It’s time
to say goodbye..
This has
been the biggest adventure of my life. The beginning seems so far away. But
being at the end you cannot help but reminiscence – the people – the places –
and all those exceptional moments that have made it so damn special!
I’ve bathed
elephants, gone trekking with them, kayaked to Islands with friends, and
countries for lunch. Drank different beers and way too much local whiskey! I’ve
explored temples, caves and mountains. Played in waterfalls and gone tubing –
it’s mass madness you maniacs ;) trekked up volcanoes, ridden a camel into the Thar desert and seen one of the seven
wonders of the world. I’ve eaten scorpions, cockroaches, lizards and other
weird things that I still don’t know the names of :/ I learnt to ride a
scooter, crashed a motor bike (on acid)Yes, I got some stupid ideas. I’ve
gotten too many massages to count, in every which style and way, even in a woman’s
bedroom while she watched an Indian soap opera..Manicures, pedicures and have
become rather addicted to getting my hair professionally washed..lol..I’ve
bought an instrument that I didn’t learn to play. I’ve sang karaoke, gone
bowling – it’s different in Asia J fruit picking, veggie grabbing,
gone fishing, been punched by the Thai mafia, driven bakki’s through lush
village mountains and gone mental on a go cart/dirt buggie, had mud fights, taught
English to toddlers, kids and teenagers and had happy shakes of all shapes and
sizes J
Tried a bunch of other happy substances ;) gone
skinny dipping on Had Rin beach, been to parties in the jungle, in towns, cites
and by the sea! I’ve gazed at snowy peaks, sunny skies, hiked through tea
plantations and been on the famous toy train! J I’ve seen the best sunrise of my
life on the ganges, watched ‘babas’ on the gats – penises dangling and all!
Ridden horses, had my fortune told and body read. Been on crazy tuk tuk
adventures, jump roped with fire, gone bamboo rafting down the river, gotten
covered in holy powder and had boat rides of all forms – big ones, small ones,
some the size of your head! ;)
Gone to museums of different natures, learnt
some heart breaking but thou rally interesting histories. Watched bodies being
burnt in cremation ceremonies, and shopped till I’ve dropped! Gone to weddings
and funerals, seen frogs and birds jump and fly out of vaginas and gotten some
drunk and dumb ink done L As well as a sober and clever one
to boot ;) I’ve been to ancient places, lost cities and incredible circuses,
bat caves and had fun on a bamboo train. Snorkeled with luminous fish, shot an
AK 47,stroked some dopey tigers, played with mad monkeys, learnt a new language
and lived in a village that has without a shadow of any doubt – changed my
life! Out of all my experiences – living there, with those beautiful people,
was the best!
Then of
course – there are the people that have made this whole adventure
unforgettable! Without them, everything would have changed – and I wouldn’t
want that cz I love it just the way it is J
I have met so many wonderful, darling people, some have been passing
travelers whom I’ve shared a few unforgettable days with here and there, and
others are very dear to my heart – they
have become life time friends that I think of daily and cannot wait to see
again! When you travel with people the possibility of closeness triples ten
fold. I’ve learnt so much about other countries, and their cultures! I’ve learnt
so much about life and everything in it, because of these people swimming along
the Asian shores..And I’ve been so blessed to have some magical friends come
into my life, and as new adventures unfold I hope to cross paths with them
again! My door is always open to them, and I know that feeling is mutual – and
that, in itself is a beautiful, beautiful thing. Something to be treasured!
Also for my family and friends back home who have always been there, with love
and support – they too have made this whole shebang a sheer delight! Especially
my darling mummy who has been my rock, the most loving, supportive mummy in the
world – this would not be possible without her! As Michael told me in Pai,
”Your mum sounds awesome! Every story you tell just makes me want to meet her
more. ” I feel beyond lucky.
I’ve
travelled a lot of Asia, but Thailand was my base, my home and I love her. I
always will. She was very good to me, and I have promised to return to her
someday not too far away – and hopefully I will not forget her very tonal
language! J
Now it’s
time to go home to my big, vast, first love.. South Africa, filled with my
family – oh how I’ve missed them all!! I’m bursting bubbles of joy all over the
place at the mere idea that tomorrow morning I’ll be sitting on the veranda
chatting away with my nearest and dearest! J And of coarse, my friends back home
– technology has not done us justice! I miss them terribly and cannot wait to
cut lose like our booties mean it! Much excitement is in the air!
See ya
later aligASIA.. it’s time for Africa..!! ;)
